Australian South Asia Forum Inc. (ASAF) ‘s South Asian Film, Arts & Literature Festival (SAFAL Fest) ran for the second year on October 5th to the 7th for three days. Attended by close to a thousand people the festival drew crowds from Sydney art lovers who support literature, film, paintings and art for arts sake.

SAFAL is an annual event that celebrates the rich and diverse arts and culture of the South Asian region comprising the nations of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

This year Safal had invited as guests from India Bollywood actress Pallavi Subhash, DNA and Zee journalist Yogesh Powar, local politicians Ryde MP Victor Dominello and Federal MP from the division of Benelong, John Alexander.

Award winners on the night were: Medha Pathak for her distinguished achievement in Performing Arts; Prisila Godahewa for distinguished achievement in Literature.
